Political Shmalitical

So I sat here contemplating how to put my ideas onto the page when I realized that I titled this column a rant and then it came to me that I don't really have to have these in any ordered, structured format. I can ramble as much as I would like because it's a rant rather than anything else with that in mind and the fact that the election is coming up next week I decided to give my thoughts on the political process.
I do not think that when the founding fathers wrote the Constitution that they had envisioned anything that is what our political construct is today. The two-party system is for lack of a better word flawed. It promotes party politics over anything else as far as the public is concerned. We have two political powers that constantly bicker with each other and when they get into a stalemate there's no way work around it but they keep fighting.
I've said before this column is out here for the free exchange of ideas and to help people think. When you have two opposite parties that completely do not agree and do not compromise as often as they should you have a breakdown in the free exchange of ideas. What this country needs is a third voice, one that will challenge the status quo or even a fourth. It will help get Congress moving again so that Congress can help the people.
A multiple party system can help for the sole reason that people do not agree on everything but most people can compromise and with a multiple party system rather two you have more of a chance of parties being able to agree on different points at different times. So that this way the wheels that turn this great nation do not stop. So I challenge people to forget party lines and to start to think for themselves. See the politicians and their platforms not as a one solid entity of either Republican or Democrat but evaluate each candidate on each of their different issues.
If you start to look you'll notice that some politicians in parties tend to have different stands on different issues and that you'll see the party lines blur. If you were to take a closer look and I don't plan to tell you who to vote for and I will not endorse anybody either but with this election it has become apparent that something needs to be done. When most people cannot see beyond the media, gender and/or race and they can’t make an informed decision on their own you start to see that the system is degrading. So, use your brains people that is what they are there for. As always options are welcome this is not a one-way street.
